Why It's Important To Give A F***!

There has been a trendy attitude being passed forward throughout the last few years. That mentality being how "cool" it is to simply not give a s*** about anything. It's trendy to "be you" and not have to give an explanation to anyone about anything. With this type of mindset, there has been an influx in body positivity posts being blasted around various media outlets. Everything from videos with 300 lbs woman eating 10,000 calories a day for fame and half naked individuals on Instagram sending subliminal messages just to sell their fitness supplements. Justifying this by explaining how confident they are in their bodies and how nobody has the right to judge them or tell them how to live their lives.

I'm here to say, not only is that incredibly idiotic, but downright ignorant!

Before I continue, let me explain my opinion on the matter...

I truly wish more individuals had a confident perspective on life BUT, there is a healthy way of going about it and a very unhealthy way. If we truly don't care in the slightest on what people think of us, then we proceed to sacrifice integrity in the pursuit of individualized gain. This is a recipe for disaster, not only for our health (in the case with the woman that feeds herself 10k calories a day just to get views on YouTube) but for our legacies that are passed on once we are gone (in the case with individuals trying to sell supplements by exposing their bodies).

With that being said, we could dive into a rather deep hole but here are just a few reasons why it's important to give a f***...

1. What is the legacy that you will leave behind once you are gone? Will it be one of a having a poor attitude or trying to do things only for your own personal gain? Every photo and video you take and share online, every discussion you have with someone within your personal relationships, the mentality that you present daily at your workplace will all be remembered once you are gone. I don't know about you, but I don't want to be remembered as someone that displayed my body off to the world or only cared about the growth of my business.

2. It's no secret that we live in a broken world even with all the fancy advancements we've had in technology the last 20 years. Maybe it's only important to me, but I truly care about leaving this world better than how I found it. If you are still breathing and waking up, I truly believe it's for a greater purpose. But, it's up to you to discover that purpose. You are here to advance SOMETHING for the world's greater good. But, if you are only focused on yourself without ever thinking about how your actions are potentially negatively affecting others, you will never make those advancements.

3. Our attitudes are on full display for the world to see. That includes the younger generation as well. With elementary aged children having cell phones on the regular now, your lifestyle is on full display for the youth to see. And if you appear as a role model to them, they will mimic what they see. From the food you eat to what you wear to how you talk. Take a look in the mirror and ask yourself if you would honestly be proud of the individual they are to become if they mirrored you?

I understand where the attitude came from to not care about what others think, but the reality is, it's truly important. It's important to care about living a healthy lifestyle. It's important to care about how we dress and conduct ourselves. It's important to care about our current lifestyles and pursue healthy and integrity rich goals. We are here for a greater purpose and by only caring about ourselves, we neglect so many important areas in this world that we could advance. Lets begin to hold ourselves accountable for our actions and attitudes so we might finally reach the potential we've been striving for.
